 Program Kits and Fun Patch Opportunities

GSGI Climate Challenge 2022

Join Malani the Hawaiian Monk Seal and take on the GSGI Climate Challenge! The GSGI Climate Challenge encourages all Girl Scouts to get outdoors and learn about climate science, connect with your communities to understand how they're impacted by climate change, and help spread awareness of the issues to create sustainable change.

BONUS: All GSGI Girl Scouts who participate in the challenge between September 20 through October 20, can enter for a chance to take the giant Malani stuffed animal home! Just submit a picture of yourself working on the challenge through this form. Check out these frequently asked questions for more information on the challenge.

Question: When is the first and last day for sales? Fall product sales start on September 30. The last date for sales varies based on your method of sale. All in-person sales end on October 16. Online girl delivery sales end on October 19. Online Direct Ship Sales end on October 23. For all Fall Product Program related questions, please visit The Bridge.

Question: How can I participate in the Girl Scout Climate Challenge?You can download the Girl Scout Climate Challenge that is on our website. There is an activity guide based on your girl’s grade level. Once you complete 10 activities that are on the activity guide, she earns the Climate Challenge patch! Download your guide here.

Question: Who can participate in the Girl Scout Climate Challenge contest? Any registered Girl Scout in the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa council can enter the Climate Challenge contest. Question: After I complete the Girl Scout Climate Challenge, where do I get my patch? The Girl Scout Climate Challenge patch is available for purchase in GSGI retail shops or online.

Question: Where do I enter our Girl Scout Climate Challenge for the chance to take Malani home? Share your Girl Scout Climate challenge with us at Share Your Story. Snap a picture of your Girl Scout completing the climate challenge and submit it using the link. One lucky Girl Scout Climate Champion will be randomly selected from all those who entered. An announcement will be made on Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa’s Facebook page and an email will be sent to the parent/guardian of the lucky Girl Scout on October 24.

Question: When is the deadline to submit our photos for the Girl Scout Climate Challenge? The deadline to submit your photo for your chance to take Malani home is October 20.

Question: Can troops participate in the Girl Scout Climate Challenge?Yes, troops can participate! However, entries need to be submitted individually per Girl Scout via Share Your Story for the chance to win Malani. One lucky Girl Scout Climate Champion will be randomly selected from all those who entered.

Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors Challenge 2022

Take the national outdoor challenge! Check out the challenge sheet to choose which activities you'd like to do to earn yourself a brand-new patch. Summer is the perfect time to celebrate our love of the great outdoors. You have so many options for how to explore-from your window, a campsite, the sidewalk, or an open trail. Use #gsoutdoors to share your adventures and see how other girls are completing this challenge. The challenge begins in May and ends with Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend, September 1O and 11, 2022. Based on your grade level, complete the required number of activities to earn an awesome new Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors Challenge patch.

Hour of Code Challenge

Grade: K-12
Cost: Free to participate! Patches are $1 each.

Join Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa in completing the Hour of Code challenge. During Computer Science Education Week, people from around the globe come together to practice their coding skills. Choose a day between December 7 – 13, 2020, sit down at your computer, and visit code.org/learn to complete one hour of code.

Work towards your Coding for Good badges or Think Like a Programmer Journey. And earn a new patch!

Whether you’re a beginner or have been coding for years, you can take part in the Hour of Code!
