Girl Scouts at Home

While our Girl Scout community is apart due to social distancing, Girl Scouts is still going strong. With technology and flexible experiences, we are prepared to navigate the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic – and Girl Scouts are taking action to try new things!

Check out the Girl Scouts at Home catalog below. These resources are curated by Grade Level. You’ll find badge activities, fun at home experiences, challenges, and more. Just pick your grade level, the activity you’d like to do, and you’re all set! Each activity is made for individual girls to complete themselves, but they also make great virtual troop meetings.

Troop Leaders and Girl Scout parents can find resources toward the bottom of this page – from online meeting tools to how to talk to girls about how society is changing, we’ve gathered tools that we hope you can use.

Not a Girl Scout? Not a problem! Check out all of the fun below and let us know when you’re ready to join right here.

Fun Patch Opportunities:

  • Earn a fun patch by completing the Girl Power Can’t Be Quarantined checklist! (All ages). Patches will be available in our council shops. Call us to order!
  • Attention trailblazers and adventure-seekers! Girl Scouts and Johnson & Johnson have teamed up to create the Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors Challenge! Enjoy fun activities for all grade levels and an opportunity to unlock a limited-edition patch!
  • New! GSGI and the Carrie Chapman Catt Center want to celebrate the advances in history that came about from the suffrage movement and the women who led the movement. The Celebrating the History of Women's Right to Vote Patch Program is intended to be a catalyst for conversation and to encourage you to learn more and take action to make the world a better place.

 For Troop Leaders and Parents

Holding Virtual Troop Meetings

It is unfortunate that COVID-19 is interfering with Girl Scouts’ ability to meet and learn together. Thank you all for taking steps to ensure the safety of girls in this difficult time. While we cannot endorse or support specific online meeting tools for your use, we are aware of several tools troops and Service Units are using for virtual meetings. See below for a list of free and low-cost tools that could be useful to you. We encourage troop leaders to look at these and alternative options and discuss with parents and girls to determine what the best solution is for your troop’s needs.

Video and Audio-Conferencing Tools with free versions

While all of these options have a free version, please note you may be prompted to consider their upgraded versions for a subscription fee.

  • Zoom - FAQ
    • Note: Each meeting has a 40-minute maximum duration in the free version
  • Skype - Support
    • Note: Up to 10 participants free
  • Webex – Help Center
    • Note: Limited file and content sharing in free version

Chat and Collaboration Tools with free versions

Additional low-cost tools for collaboration and conferencing to consider if the above options do not meet your group's needs.

Virtual Bridging Ceremonies

Bridging, a long-held Girl Scout tradition, is an important transition in a Girl Scout’s life. Taking place at the beginning or end of the Girl Scout year, girls “bridge” to the next level; from Daisy to Brownie, Brownie to Junior, Junior to Cadette, and so on.

Check out these Virtual Bridging Guides to help navigate the unique Bridging ceremonies. Each guide includes things to consider, tips for planning virtual meetings and ceremonies, and even a shopping list for potential items to purchase! Keep in mind the bridging deadline for this year has been extended until December 31, 2020.

Zoom Meeting Backgrounds

Feel like you’re part of Girl Scouts even during a virtual meeting! Zoom has a virtual background feature which allows users to choose real-life backgrounds. Check out our custom options below – you can be at camp, or just show your love for Girl Scouts!
