At Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, we prepare every girl to practice a lifetime of leadership by providing her the experiences to build courage, confidence, and character, to make the world a better place.
Community Outreach Programs provide the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls in grades K-12 in areas underserved by the traditional troop experience.
With the support of our local sponsors, donors, and volunteers, these experiences are typically provided to girls free-of-charge in the form of six-week after-school Girl Scout Clubs, all-girl workshops, or multifaceted STEM teams. All experiences provide girls the opportunity to take the lead, learn by doing, and engage in cooperative learning.
Developing 5 Outcomes
Outreach Programs - and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience - help girls develop 5 powerful outcomes:
Community Partners
We are proud to partner with other youth-serving agencies, schools, businesses, and individuals to provide opportunities to girls. Our mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character can be accomplished with the support and assistance of community partners.
Outreach Volunteers: Be the Role Model She'll Always Remember
Outreach Volunteers are the key to the learning and development of girls in after school and community-based programs. We provide volunteers the training, resources, and
ongoing support to deliver a positive learning environment for girls, making it easier for them to be self-empowered while exploring new skills.
You can help girls who are otherwise unable to have these experiences due to lack of transportation or financial support, or unavailability of Girl Scout troops or leaders.
