Over 2,300 Girl Scouts went to Girl Scout camp this summer at Camp Sacajawea near Boone, IA and Camp Tanglefoot on Clear Lake, IA. Girl Scout camp is always a special season, and this year was no exception. Campers rode horses, canoed, flexed their archery skills, supported one another, ate S’mores, and connected with caring camp counselors and mentors. Girl Scout camp always has new opportunities for girls to build their courage, confidence, and character. In the new Tree Climbing Extravaganza camp session, campers harnessed up and climbed the branches of Wilma, Camp Tanglefoot’s official tree climbing tree. Wilma is a burr oak and one of the biggest trees at camp – with a great view of camp and Clear Lake from the highest branches. When campers weren’t climbing, they did all things Girl Scout camp – swimming, boating, hiking, art, and challenge courses. Donors like you are so important for the Girl Scout camp experience. Donor support helps fund camp scholarships for Girl Scouts to attend camp – for some, this makes the difference between them being able to attend camp and not being able to attend. Donor support also helps fund projects like refurbishing the swimming pool at Camp Sacajawea or building a new high ropes challenge course at Camp Tanglefoot.
