Development Assistant

JOB STATUS: Exempt (12 months)

LOCATION: Des Moines

PURPOSE OF JOB:  Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa has an exciting opportunity for a Development Assistant. This position will be primarily responsible for supporting the VP of Fund Development and the Development team in a variety of activities, including but not limited to; monitoring and maintaining department calendars and project deadlines; managing and maintaining information for the council's annual giving campaign; coordinating the council's fund development data management systems; and researching and tracking funding proposals. The person in this role will act as the departmental focal point, providing pivotal support critical to the success of the council’s fundraising program while supporting and reinforcing Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa and Girl Scouts of the USA goals, policies, and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Associates Degree in a related academic discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of two years administrative support or other related experience
  • Experience working in fund development departments preferred
  • Experience working with donor management databases preferred
  • Outstanding communication skills, oral and written
  • Outstanding interpersonal relation skills
  • Demonstrates sound time and project management skills
  • High level planning and organization skills with strong attention to detail
  • Collaborative work style; able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Is flexible and adaptable
  • A self-starter who independently takes initiative

Director of Membership Recruitment   

JOB STATUS: Exempt (12 months)

LOCATION: Des Moines

PURPOSE OF JOB: Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Membership Recruitment. We are seeking someone who is able to effectively develop and execute comprehensive recruiting strategies that will increase overall membership in the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa. The individual in this role will lead the recruitment team, providing guidance for successful execution of the council’s strategic plan. The Director will be responsible for ensuring all plans support and reinforce the Girl Scout philosophy and standards while being expected to foster member, organization and community relations for the council.  

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other related field
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience
  • A minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience
  • Experience in sales with comprehensive knowledge of the fundamentals of effective sales principles
  • Experience working with and presenting to organization leaders
  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets
