As a volunteer, you'll introduce girls to new experiences that show them they're capable of more than they ever imagined.
You'll be their cheerleader, guide, and mentor, helping them develop skills and confidence that will last long after the meeting is over. Imagine the smiles, the excitement, the memories made--those are the moments you'll share at Girl Scouts.
Be the role model she'll always remember.

Girl Scouts expands the kind of life skills and educational programs that are disappearing from our schools. No other organization provides girls with as many ways to learn and lead as today’s Girl Scouts. The result: girls who are successful in school, in family relationships, and in careers. These girls are also inspired to make a difference in their communities and their world. Won’t you join us?
The Girl Scout Movement has always depended on active adult volunteers to provide the Girl Scout program to its membership. Parents, neighbors, relatives, friends, former Girl Scouts, and any other adults who wish to help today's girls grow into competent, resourceful women, are encouraged to become Girl Scout volunteers.
We are here to ensure that you are matched with the right opportunities, are provided efficient and effective learning and support, and are recognized for the valuable service you provide on behalf of girls! The first few steps of the process include background screening, interviewing, and placement.
After placement, you’re in a position to assess the skills and competencies Girl Scouts has identified as most important—the ones that will lead to the best results for girls. You surely already possess many of these skills and behaviors and will develop more in the coming year, as you work more closely with girls and with your volunteer support team.
After you’ve evaluated your skills and identified opportunities for growth, you can utilize the learning opportunities offered by the council. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow, right along with the girls!
Adults may choose to work directly with the girls or support adult volunteers through various positions. Perhaps working with girls in a troop setting is the option for you. Or, you could volunteer a day here and there, or a month long stretch, give a yearly commitment or help for a week in the summer or fall.
Do you have a unique talent that you would like to share? There is a place for you to volunteer with Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa and we invite you to join us.
