Volunteer Training

We know your time is valuable. The majority of our learning courses are available online and accessible 24/7. Get started by accessing our Volunteer Learning Portal.

We also offer other training courses to help you get started with your Girl Scout Troop, such as:

  • Troop Leader Orientation - which covers safety, resources to support your journey, steps to your first troop meeting and financial information.
  • Managing Troops and Groups introducing you to the core program using the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, resources which include Journey books and Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting.
  • Leading Your Level, helping you dig deeper into the Girl’s Guide and Journey resources and learning about the personalities of the age group you are leading.
  • First Aid/CPR training - which is required for every troop so that everyone can be safe while having fun adventures together. A certified First Aid/CPR volunteer is required when your troop ventures out from your regular meeting location.  This person can be the troop leader or a troop support volunteer with the skills or interest in the position.  You can take the class in your local community or check the trainings listed on the event calendar.

Don't Forget! Volunteer help and support is always a phone call or e-mail away. Our customer care team is happy to answer your questions and assist you as you volunteer. Just call 800-342-8389 or email info@girlscoutsiowa.org
