While Girl Scouts may not be at camp this summer, both resident camps are seeing major facelifts this year, like a shower house renovation at Camp Tanglefoot and the maintenance building construction at Camp Sacajawea. These projects will help make camp even better for Girl Scouts when they return in summer 2021.
The preparation for the new maintenance building at Camp Sacajawea in Boone began last fall with land grading preparation. Building construction began in March. The new building, located across from Mayea Meadow, is much larger and will hold more supplies and equipment for the camp like mowers, tents, and tools. It’ll also provide more space for the camp site manager to work on projects. The project is wrapping up and the building should be complete soon.
In addition to the maintenance building, the Camp Sacajawea pool liner was successfully installed this spring, ensuring the safe use of the pool for many years to come.
At Camp Tanglefoot, work on both the shower houses and window replacements in the Lodge will begin soon.
