Girl Scouts all across the country are learning incredible skills and achieving mountains of success. While not all of these stories stem from the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa council, it is inspiring to read the stories of what G.I.R.L.s are doing for our world. Arpitha Parthasarathy, an Ambassador Girl Scout from Northern California, dedicated her gold Award project to helping those who are visually impaired – with robotics! “I am sixteen years old, a junior in high school. I never thought before the start of this project that I would be leading a team of adults on a project regarding the blind,” she said. Read more about her story here.
Troop 40348 from Girl Scouts of Central Texas are risk-takers and innovators through and through, filled with avid scuba divers, environmentalists, and adventurers. They do a lot of traditional troop activities—like go camping, sell cookies, sing songs, and give back to the community—they just do most of it underwater, which adds a whole other level of WOW to their Girl Scout experience. Sarah, a ten-year cancer survivor, implemented “Chat with Champs”, a nonprofit that gives pediatric cancer patients an innovative solution to hospital loneliness.
