Our Cabana and Hostel - Mexico City: July 22 - Aug 1, 2009, 13-18 yr. olds
Description: Join with other girls and adults from Greater Iowa making friends, exploring new cultures and seeing the sights of Mexico at Our Cabana and a hostel in Mexico City from July 22 - August 1, 2009. Spaces are available for girls and adults on this amazing adventure. Leaving from Minneapolis you will fly to Mexico City with the participants from Greater Iowa. Once there, you will spend two nights in Ticalli, an international hostel in Mexico City, traveling to the Sun and the Moon pyramids and the Shrine of Guadalupe. Transportation by private bus will take you to Our Cabana for their Friendship session where you will meet and have an adventure of a lifetime as you continue to explore Mexico. Participants are given the opportunity to meet and work with Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from other countries, often resulting in life-long friendships.
Our programs are cultural and include many activities and workshops based around the current WAGGGS themes and initiatives. We have a craft house where participants can learn about the traditional Mexican crafts and try making some themselves! We have a swimming pool, tennis court, volley ball court, 5 acres of grounds and seating areas where you can relax and talk with your friends. During each event we take part in a service project with the local communities and usually this involves children from the communities coming to Our Cabana to take part in a days activities that we have planned for them.
Cost to Attend: The approximate cost fro this trip is $1,800 per person. Adults slightly different.
Registration is open until May 15, 2008. Contact Karen Byrne at 641-425-9383 or 641-423-3044 for questions and registration. A non-refundable deposit is required for this event.
