GSGI recognizes that girls need time to plan and fundraise for trips. We also strive for consistency. For these reasons we have planned progressive trips for Girl Scout Juniors through Ambassadors. As girls get older, the location will be a bit further away from home and the trip will be a bit longer.
These grade-level trips are for girls who have completed the grade specified. For example, a trip planned for Girl Scout Juniors is for girls who have completed 4th or 5th grade. These trips will be offered each summer and will remain the same destination.
Are you curious about how to plan for a Council- sponsored trip? Call your local Leadership Center to schedule a time for a Program staff member to come to you for an informational meeting on our upcoming trips. There is no commitment to pay a deposit at that time, but pay close attention to registration deadlines of the trips you are interested in. Girls must have a parent with them at the meeting.
On most trips, we allow girls that are interested to be part of setting the agenda. This planning will also help determine the final price of the trip. In this way, you can see the detailed work it takes to plan a trip and the cost value of those details. You will also be able to see and do the things you really want!
We hope that you can participate in as many adventures as you desire! The Council provides some fantastic opportunities to start the money earning/saving process:
- Participate in the Fall and Cookie Product Programs (see the Product Program flyer on page 31 for dates).
- You can apply Cookie Dough or Juliette Program Credits for an upcoming trip if you let us know before September 15, 2014. Please email, call, or talk to you local Leadership Center about using your funds in this way. See Product Program guidelines for more details.
- Apply for a grant through our Trip Financial Assistance form (found in the forms section of our website)
- Troop money-earning opportunities (led by girls attending; specific for troop travel opportunities).
No one should expect to pay for an entire trip solely with money-earning opportunities or Product Program money earned. Even with those programs, some out-of-pocket expenses may arise. Through these programs, however, we hope to allow you the chance to begin the process of taking the trip(s) of a lifetime!
