Do you love bugs, spiders and other insects?  If so, you won't want to miss this camp experience!  How would you like to go fishing early in the morning or watch the sunset from the dock?  We'll have a chance to follow animal trails and make plaster casts of animal footprints.  We'll also go on two field trips - to Lime Creek Nature Center in Mason City and to the Fossil Park in Rockford.  You'll also get to make your own pondscope to use in the lake and marsh at camp!   Be ready to share your knowledge as we learn about the little critters that squiggle, squirm, climb, and fly!

What better way to jump into summer camp than by spending two nights, three days at Camp Tanglefoot this summer?  Chic-a-dee camp is the most fun a Girl Scout can have in such a short amount of time!  We'll participate in lots of fun outdoor activities, make s'mores around a campfire, attend a special themed party, make new friends, and learn tons of silly songs!  Campers will also have a campfire each night and go swimming during the day.

This summer, spend your time at camp doing the things you want to do most!  From the waterfront, to archery, to the craft house, and the ropes course, by planning with your counselors and fellow campmates, you'll have a great week at camp!  This is a great session for new and returning campers - for those who know just what they love to do, and those who want to try it all!

Explore your creative side at camp!  You'll have the opporutnity paint, draw, and sculpt, in addition to making jewelry and other crafts!  You'll design, draft, and create a final project on canvas to take home with you!  To get ideas and learn from professionals, we'll take a field trip to a local art museum to look at other's style and work!  When you're not in the Craft House, you'll be able to swim and boat at the Waterfront, try archery, and other camp activities.

Unleash your inner survior!  To prepare for our "survival night", we will practice our skills in fire building, shelter-building, plant identification, animal habits, and outdoor cooking.  When the time comes, you will create your own shelter to spend the night in, using only natural and provided materials!  You will also have a chance to swim and boat at the Waterfront, try archery, visit the Craft House, have a campfire each night, and complete parts of the low ropes course.

Come to camp with your mom, aunt, grandma and/or other female adult for an overnight of fun!  We will follow an open-camp schedule including swimming, canoeing, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, paddle boating, pontoon rides, arts and crafts, low ropes course, High Ropes Course (for those entering 7th grade & above), games, great food, and much more!  Attend an evening of all-camp activities, followed by a delightful campfire, then stargazing on a night hike.  Wake up to a hearty breakfast, followed by a Scout's Own, and time for more open-camp activities before heading home at 11:00 am!  The cost listed is per person; each attendee must fill out a registration form and provide a $30 deposit.

Sleuth the woods for animal prints as we go on an animal mystery!  Find out where animals go to sleep, if they sleep during the day or night, what they eat, and if they like to be in large groups or off on their own.  What we learn this week about animals and their habitats will help you to solve mysteries about deer, raccoons, rabbits, turkeys, crows, and turtles.   Plus, you'll get to go swimming and boating at the waterfront, enjoy a campfire each night, and have fun at an all-camp themed party!

Spend time at camp this summer with your sister!  Whether you both love to go to camp or have never gone before and want to experience it together, this a great opportunity for you!  It is also a great way to meet and connect with other Girl Scout sisters.  We'll be busy from morning 'til night singing songs, swimming and boating on Clear Lake, exploring nature, and ending each night with a beautiful campfire.  We'll also plan our own "Sister's Only" party!

Climb On!  This week you will spend up off the ground - first on the High Ropes Course at Tanglefoot, then on a special adventure to Minnesota State University's high ropes course and climbing wall!  This is sure to be a week to remember as you take on these high-adventure challenges!  When you're feet are back on the ground, you'll have a great time all over camp, from the Waterfront to the archery range!

Fizzy, gooey, bubbly experiments await a super scientist like yourself!  If experiments are your thing, check out this great session! With every experiement we do, we'll learn the "why" behind it, and if we don't have the answers to all of your questions, maybe they'll get answered when we take a field trip to the a hands-on science center!   When we're not experimenting with science, we'll be trying out activities throughout camp like boating and swimming at the Waterfront and enjoying campfires in the evening!

HOOT! HOOT!  The owls will be your companions during this week of late night fun!  We will be trying cool nighttime games, put on a light show with glow sticks, and much more as you stay up late.  There will be blazing campfires, late night s'mores, flashlight fun, and opportunities to stargaze and learn about the night sky!

Spend a week at camp relaxing at the "Tanglefoot Spa"!  Between the facials, manicures, yoga and Zumba sessions, you'll have a chance to focus on inner beauty and building confidence for your next school-year.  With your new friends, you'll learn how to make a good choices in the face of peer-pressure and even put together a fashion show to perform in front of the other campers and counselors!  Girls should bring costumes or special outfits they'd like to wear in the fashion show.

Would you like to use a bow and arrow?  This week, we'll learn the proper way to aim for the bulls eye!  This is an archery-based session where you will learn the basic skills  to be safe while using a bow and arrows.  You'll also get a chance to create your own and aim for other unique targets this week.  As part of the session, you'll also learn how this sport came to be, and how to properly score a round of archery!    When you're not in at the archery range, you'll be able to swim and boat at the Waterfront, visit the Craft House, and participate in other camp activities.

Sailing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating and spending time on the water will be our focus this week!  If the wind is just right, we'll wake up at sunrise for an early morning sail; and we'll take a canoe trip across the lake to one of the State Parks for an overnight in tents, too!  Learn to sail in a Sunfish sailboat or a Hobie Wave catamaran.  In order to sail, it is important that campers feel comfortable in deep water and have strong swimming skills.

A C.I.T. is a Girl Scout Senior Ambassador who participates
in our extremely successful Leadership Program directed
toward her future in camp counseling, teaching, or other
human service fields. Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa is proud to
offer one of the most successful C.I.T. programs in the nation.
Based upon the resources of Girl Scouts of the USA, this
Leadership Program is completed over a two summer period.

Grade 10 - C.I.T. I: The focuses are experience in responsibility,
program goals, contemporary issues, leadership styles,
child development, outdoor living skills, group dynamics,
conflict resolution and program interaction with campers.

Grade 11 - C.I.T. II: The skills learned in the first year, augmented
by program immersion with campers, are expanded
upon through skills specialization, safety practices, and
leading activities. As a further progression, individuals who
successfully complete the program may apply to work
at a Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa camp as an “Apprentice
Counselor.” This allows these outstanding young women
the opportunity to be employed at an earlier age.

Backpacking, mountain biking, canoeing, and a high ropes course….if that sounds like your kind of adventure, this is the session for you!  We will take a short backpacking trip to Yellow River State Forest, ride the mountain bike trails at George Wyth State Park, canoe across the lake to a State Park, and complete the high ropes course at camp!  Additionally, there will be time for all of your other favorite activities in camp!  Be prepared for an awesome week with your counselors and new friends!  Campers must provide their own mountain bike (non-road bike) and bike helmet; bikes must have been recently tuned up by a professional before the summer camp session.  All other specialized equipment will be provided to campers.
