This session is a week full of adventure!  Come and conquer our rock wall, low challenge course, and giant swing.  Llearn how to geocache to find treasures all across Camp Sacajawea.  You and your new friends will take a hike into the woods for an overnight camping trip and will spend a day at Don Williams Lake learning to canoe and eating a picnic on the water.

Grades 9 - 12

This week-long session is designed for campers in grades 9-11 with a variety of horseback riding skill levels.  The session will be tailored based on the campers' experience.  In this session, we will cover the basics - grooming, saddling, and walking your horse in the arena.  As the week progresses and so do your skills, we may have the opportunity to take a trail ride and camp out overnight on the open range!  All skill levels are welcome in this session.  Campers skills will be evaluated prior to riding.

Grades 6-8

For all you horse lovers in grades 6-8, come to camp and be what you've always wanted to be….a cowgirl!  You'll spend time learning how to mount, saddle, and brush your horse.  You'll then get to take a walk in our arena.  At the end of the week, take a trial ride outside of camp for a pcinic with your friends, like a true cowgirl!  The trail ride will be done weather and riding skill permitted.  Campers skills will be evaluated prior to riding.

Calling all Camp Scene Investigators!  Our detective game is afoot at Camp Sacajawea and we need detective and secret agents to figure it out !  This week, you'll learn the skills you need to solve the greatest camp mystery of all time!  Use these sills to find the clues at everyday camp activities like swimming, archery, and crafts.

A C.I.T. is a Girl Scout Senior Ambassador who participates
in our extremely successful Leadership Program directed
toward her future in camp counseling, teaching, or other
human service fields. Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa is proud to
offer one of the most successful C.I.T. programs in the nation.
Based upon the resources of Girl Scouts of the USA, this
Leadership Program is completed over a two summer period.

Grade 10 - C.I.T. I: The focuses are experience in responsibility,
program goals, contemporary issues, leadership styles,
child development, outdoor living skills, group dynamics,
conflict resolution and program interaction with campers.

Grade 11 - C.I.T. II: The skills learned in the first year, augmented
by program immersion with campers, are expanded
upon through skills specialization, safety practices, and
leading activities. As a further progression, individuals who
successfully complete the program may apply to work
at a Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa camp as an “Apprentice
Counselor.” This allows these outstanding young women
the opportunity to be employed at an earlier age.

Grades 6-8

Are you ready for the next level of your cowgirl experience?  Then come to our Level 2 series of Cowgirls!  Perfect your balance and control while taking your horse up to a trot.  Weather permitting, by the end of the week, you will combine your skills for an ultimate cowgirl overnight trail ride.  Prerequisite: Completion of a Level 1 camp or five or more hours of western style riding experience required.  Campers skills will be evaluated prior to riding.

Scouts. Experience in child development, outdoor living skills,
leadership styles, contemporary issues, program goals and
outcome, and responsibility are the core of this Leadership
Program.

A summer as an L.I.T. is not required before young women
become C.I.T.s; however, it will provide the foundation for
C.I.T. I & II. Leader-In-Training is a three week program that
runs concurrently with the Counselor-In-Training Leadership
Program.

A Wrangler-In-Training is a girl in 9th, 10th, or 11th
grade who is taking her first step to becoming a

You will get to pick tomatoes, make salsa or pasta sauce, and help plan next year’s garden. Hear from a local farmer and learn about where our food comes from and how to find and purchase local foods!
