Program Event Registration Procedures NEW! updated 2/1/08
- The opening date is the first day registrations will be accepted and will be open approximately one month prior to the program. The registration period will be open for two weeks.
- You will receive confirmation of your placement and permission slips via email or U.S. mail.
- No early registrations will be accepted.
- Full payment must accompany the registration form.
- The closing date is the last day that registrations will be accepted. No late registrations will be accepted after the two week period.
- Individual girls may register for events.
- No individual will be discriminated against because of race, color, national origin, age, handicap or socioeconomic status.
- Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa will provide reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities.
- Requests should be made to the service center as early as possible or at least two weeks in advance of the event.
- Financial Assistance is available. Please contact a Girl Scout Program Specialist at your Service Center.
How to Register for an Event
- Read the registration procedures.
- Complete registration form and return with payment prior to the closing date to the service center.
- A fully completed registration includes the participant list and full payment including financial assistance needs.
- Clearly print when completing the registration form. Please use the same name you gave when you completed your Girl Scout yearly membership registration (i.e., Elizabeth vs. Beth).
- Registration and money will not be accepted at events. Girls or adults whose fees are not prepaid will not be allowed to participate.
- You may register online or by fax with a credit card. You may also register by mail or at a Girl Scout Service Center with the form in this book. No phone registrations.
- Make checks payable to Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa. Cash will be accepted for payment, however, do not mail or put cash into the service center’s drop box. Cash is only accepted at the service center during business hours.
Refunds
- If a participant cancels after the registration deadline, there will be no refund except in the event of serious personal injury, illness accompanied with a doctor’s note, death in the immediate family, relocation or rescheduling of the event.
- No refunds or discounts will be made for a participant arriving late or leaving early for a scheduled event.
- Event fees will not be transferred from one event to another.
- Participants not in attendance at the day of the event are not eligible to receive any items from the event (patches, crafts, amenities, etc.)
- Refunds will be given if the event does not meet the minimum number of participants required by the end of the closing date.
Weather Information
- In the event of inclement weather on the day of the scheduled event and the Council cancels the event, event fees will be refunded and all participants will be notified by phone.
- If an event is held and a participant chooses not to attend, no refund will be issued.
Adult Girl Ratio
All events must meet the minimum adult/girl ratio as indicated on page 69 of Safety-Wise. Not all events or trips require adults to be in attendance. Please see the event and trip descriptions. Ratios are as follows:

Tagalong Policy
- Tagalongs are not to be brought to events.
- A tagalong is a child not registered in your troop (example – sibling of any age)
- Do not bring Daisy Girl Scouts to Brownie Girl Scout events, Brownie Girl Scouts to Junior Girl Scout events, etc., due to space constraints and program quality.
