Online Orientation Training
BASIC ORIENTATION: TRAINING FOR ADULTS WHO WORK WITH GIRLS
A Basic Orientation to Girl Scouting is now available on the Girl Scouts of the USA Web Site. Completion of this training will fulfill the mandatory training requirement for Girl Scout Orientation. This training is called Basic Orientation because Councils all over the country use it. This on-line training session covers basic information about Juliette Gordon Low, the Promises and Law, the four Program Goals, girl/adult partnership, safety and pluralism.
You will need access to Safety-Wise during one portion of the training. If you do not have this publication, please call a Service Center to obtain one. Please complete all sections, the petals of the flower will fill in as you complete each portion. At the end of each section, you will need to go back to the beginning of the section in order for it to color in your petal.
Please notify the Volunteer Education Specialist when you have completed the training. She will then check the records and send you an evaluation to be completed and returned to the office as well as send you some additional handouts. You can enter the site as many times as you need in order to complete all sections. The completed petals will remind you which section you have left. If you have any questions please contact the Adult Education Director at 800-342-8389 or AdultEd@gsiowa.org.
Leaders are required to complete this training along with an Age Level Training with a council trainer for their specific age level.
