Girl Scouts Host Forever Green Gala to
Help Support Girl Leadership in Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa –
- Did you know? Only 1 in 5 girls believes she has the key qualities required to be a good leader.
- Did you know? There’s not a single woman among the CEOs and board chairs at the top 15 media companies.
- Did you know? Only 17% of U.S. Senators, representatives, and governors are women.
In an effort to help change these statistics, Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa will soon kick off the Forever Green Gala, set to take place on Sept. 6th at the Meadows Events and Conference Center.
“The lack of female leaders on both the local and national level is a serious issue we need to address,” Business Publications Corporation Publisher and Green Gala committee member, Janette Larkin, said.
“Developing tomorrow’s female leaders is an imperative investment for a stronger, better tomorrow. That’s where the Forever Green Gala comes in.” This unique fundraising event will give community members the chance to come together in support of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience - and have some fun along the way!
Gala guests will also be asked to wear ‘green cocktail attire’ or an old Girl Scout uniform to show their Girl Scout support, will enjoy a night filled with music, dancing, Girl Scout inspired hors d’oeuvres, a Girl Scout cookie sales showdown, and a live auction of a Sticks designed art piece.
Guests will also take a walk down memory lane during the historic Girl Scout fashion show, where models will sport vintage Girl Scout uniforms, some of which date back to the 1910’s.
With the generous support of Gala attendees, girls in Greater Iowa will have the chance to develop the skills they need to succeed in the world today.
