National Program for Girl Scouts

The Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting
Girl Scout Leadership Experience

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) consists of two distinct components:

  • The National Leadership Journeys, which develop girls' leadership ability through the three keys (discover, connect, and take action); and
  • Badges, which build girls' skills.  Badges are outlined in each age appropriate Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting binder.

Complemented by...

  • the Girl Scout Cookie and Product Program,
  • Girl Scout travel, and
  • Girl Scout awards

...the National Program Portfolio is designed to help girls develop as leaders and build confidence by learning new skills. It also ensures that Girl Scouts at every level are sharing a powerful, national experience—girls together changing the world!

The Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting and our three journeys go hand-in-hand. The journey series uses age-appropriate methods to guide girls toward discovering, connecting, and taking action (among the fifteen leadership outcomes of our entire Girl Scout movement). The Girl's Guides and Badges build specific skills and are primarily aimed at the Discover "girls develop a strong sense of self" outcome.

The Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting was unveiled to girls and leaders in September 2011. This Girl Scouts of the USA publication includes badges (or petals for Daisies), handbook sections, an award log, accessory pages, and more! Each level has its own Girl's Guide and is presented in a beautiful standard-size binder.

The Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting is where girls (and adults) can find exciting new badges, the 100th Anniversary handbook, information on bridging and Bronze/Silver/Gold Awards, Girl Scout history, tradition, and much more!
