FIRST® Lego® League
|
FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) gives girls a chance to design, build, program, and test LEGO® autonomous robots to meet real-world challenges. Find our more about FLL and the 2013 year's challenge "Nature's Fury" by clicking here. ANYONE CAN BE A PART OF FLL It doesn't take a brilliant engineer to be a part of FIRST® LEGO® League. All it takes is someone with a sense of adventure, someone with curiosity of how things work, and someone who is looking to have a great time. We need coaches for our teams as well - no experience required! |

"THE FLYING MONKEY'S" SUCCESS THROUGH FLL As a result of previous competitions, a group of Girl Scouts from Ames and Gilbert, the ‘Flying Monkeys’, have not only obtained a patent for their unique prosthetic hand invention, but continue to receive national and international attention. They have traveled all over the United States, met President Obama, traveled to Rio de Janerio to present at a world conference and continue to soak up media attention from all over! Read all about the Flying Monkey's trip to Rio+20 on our Girl Scout Blog. |

FIRST® LEGO® League and other Girl Scout STEM programming helps girls explore activities that could lead to potential careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa appreciates support from Iowa State University, College of Engineering, Rockwell Collins, and United Technologies to help make FIRST® LEGO® League possible. |

GREATER IOWA IS A STEM ADVOCACY CHAMPION
As one of 17 national STEM advocacy champions, we are expanding our STEM curriculum to give girls more opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and math activities. While we build our curriculum, we also need additional funders, coaches, and collaborators to join our efforts.
