Counselor in Training II
A Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) is a Girl Scout in grades 10 or 11 who participates in our extremely successful leadership program directed toward her future in camp counseling, teaching, or other human service fields. Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa is proud to offer one of the most successful C.I.T. programs in the nation. Based upon the resources of Girl Scouts of the USA, this leadership program is completed over a two summer period. After successful completion of the program, these campers are eligible to apply to work as camp staff.
Grade 10 – C.I.T. I: The focuses are experience in responsibility, program goals, contemporary issues, leadership styles, child development, outdoor living skills, group dynamics, conflict resolution, and program interaction with campers.
Grade 11 – C.I.T. II: The skills learned in the first year, augmented by program immersion with campers, are expanded upon through skills specialization, safety practices, outdoor living skills, and experience leading activities.
C.I.T.s will have a session break from 1:30 p.m. on 7/27/18 through 1:00 p.m. on 7/29/18. C.I.T.s must make arrangements to leave camp during this session break.
